Super Eagles have been rewarded with naira equivalent of USD 80,000 which over 30 million naira by Coalition of Private Companies.
The Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele who brought the goodwill message and the cash to the Eagles in Garoua, Cameroon said CACOVID decided to reward each of Eagles’ goals with the naira equivalent of 20,000 dollars because of their superlative performance at the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
He also told them to maintain their exemplary conduct on and off the pitch until they take the cup to Nigeria.
“Let me on behalf of the President, Nigeria delegation to AFCON in Cameroon thank all you for an exceptional job so far. We were so happy that you gave Nigeria your very best and victory in the group games. “Nigerians are happy that Nigerian football is back to life again. That Nigeria now have a set of discipline and committed young men that are working very hard to lift Nigeria to glory. We have not done everything that you want. You are giving all you have for the good of the country and not just for yourselves.
“I came the other day with the message from CACOVID which is the Coalition of Private Sector Company that was set up to provide Covid-19 relief in Nigeria. Because it is a Coalition of Private Companies that is led by Alhaji Aliko Dangote I have been asked to come here today.
“For every goal that is scored, you will receive a naira equivalent of USD 20,000. So far You have earned for yourselves naira equivalent of USD80,000. We held a CACOVID meeting two days ago.
Emefiele also pointed that the Eagles will be rewarded with the naira equivalent of 50,000 dollars for every goal they score in any game they win as from the second round game.
The CBN boss also announced that business mogul, Femi Otedola has promised to reward the Eagles with the naira equivalent of 250,000 dollars if they are able to lift the 33rd edition of the AFCON in Cameroon.
“Because everybody is overjoyed with what you people have done so far, CACOVID has asked me to deliver a message to raise the ante. Raising the ante simply means after you have qualified for the second round, CACOVID has asked to inform you that for every goal, you will earn for yourself as a team naira equivalent of USD 50000.
“Football is a unifying game. We want Nigerians to remain happy. With the spirit in which you have conducted yourselves thus far, the government and the Nigeria Private Sector led by CACOVID we will reward you abundantly.
Before we landed, Femi Otedola himself who is also a member of CACOVID has asked me to tell you that if you lift the trophy, he has in the bank for you naira equivalent of USD250,000. This is just the beginning and I can assure you that if you win your Round of 16 game, members of CACOVID will come again to make more promises.”
