National Security Adviser’s comment on fear of IPOB disrupting the Anambra election is timely but does not address the root causes of the rising sphere of influence of the group.
In my submission, the root causal factors of the rising profile of the group is simply because the group is riding on the overall disenchantment of the people of the South East region. If the Federal Government addresses the marginalisation of the South East then IPOB’s influence will be curtailed.
As for the Anambra election, the NSA should talk more to the politicians of the state who continue to heat up the polity in every election cycle. Anambra state has the unenviable position of being the only state where a sitting Governor was kidnapped. It is time to learn from the mistakes of the past and turn a new leaf. Election is not war.
