Barrister Gabriel Highlights Sexual Purity, Christian Homes

By Ayomide Otitoju

In a recent address, Barrister Mary Onosiem Pillar Gabriel emphasized the significance of sexual purity and the foundational role of Christian homes in nurturing a godly society. Gabriel highlighted that sexual purity defined as abstaining from intercourse until marriage and avoiding sexual thoughts and activities outside of marriage is essential for living a life pleasing to God.
Quoting Napoleon Hill’s renowned adage, “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve,” Gabriel underscored the belief that sexual experiences should be confined to marriage. She referenced, which warns against sexual sin, noting that those who engage in such behaviors will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Gabriel reassured those who have made past mistakes that God’s forgiveness is a gift of grace. She encouraged individuals struggling with regret over premarital sexual activity to seek hope and support through counselors, ministers, parents, and organizations like The New Life Center.
Addressing a spectrum of social vices, Gabriel discussed issues such as examination malpractice, indecent dressing, prostitution, political thuggery, cultism, drug addiction, targeted assassinations, and armed robbery. She emphasized that maintaining sexual purity involves not only abstinence before marriage but also fidelity within marriage.
Gabriel outlined several steps to achieving sexual purity:
• Guard Your Mind: Focus on thoughts that are honorable, pure, lovely, and commendable, as sin begins in the mind.
• Pray Regularly: Rely on God and the power of His Holy Spirit for strength.
• Flee from Temptation: Avoid situations that might lead to temptation.
• Cut Off Temptations: Remove sources of temptation, such as certain websites, TV shows, or social media.
• Accountability: Find a mentor or trusted individual to share struggles and maintain accountability.
Gabriel stressed the importance of family prayer in building a godly home, reinforcing the belief that “the family that prays together, stays together.”
She also highlighted the significance of marriage and Christian homes, institutions designed by God and targeted by the devil. A godly home composed of a husband, wife, father, mother, and children serves as a witness to non-believers and provides stability, security, and support. Despite no home or marriage being perfect, Gabriel pointed out that a genuine godly home possesses certain features.
A godly home starts with a godly marriage, serving as the foundation for fulfilling God’s promises. Parents are tasked with raising their children in the love and nurture of the Lord teaching enduring spiritual values such as reverence, worship, and serving God. Prioritizing family time and avoiding negligence are crucial, Unity in discipline and a consistent prayer life are essential.
Gabriel warned that a lack of biblical instruction and discipline can lead children astray, resulting in issues like drug addiction and criminal behavior. Many children end up in correctional centers or face premature death due to insufficient training and discipline.
By adhering to biblical principles, fostering a loving environment, and maintaining a strong spiritual foundation, Gabriel believes that families can withstand challenges and contribute positively to society, protecting marriages, children, and all that God has given.
