Lagos, Nigeria — Amid the ongoing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests sweeping across the country, internationally acclaimed musician Burna Boy has firmly denied any affiliation with politicians. His statement comes in response to widespread rumours and accusations circulating on social media.
Addressing the allegations on social media platform X on Thursday, Burna Boy stated, “No politician has ever given anything. Go ask Wike where the land him give me or which money him give me. You think I’m your faves.” This denial specifically targets accusations of connections with political figures, notably the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike.
The #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests, which began as a movement against economic hardship and poor governance, have turned violent in some areas. In Kano State, hoodlums looted and set ablaze the newly built Nigeria Communication Commission Industrial Park, which was just days away from its official launch.
Eyewitnesses and photos shared online depicted youths fleeing the scene with stolen items, including computers, furniture, and electronics. The incident underscores the escalating tension and unrest in various parts of the country as the protests continue.
