Access Bank Plc and Xploit Consulting Ltd. on Friday donated 40 handwashing facilities to 20 schools in Sokoto and Kebbi states to curtail the spread of COVID-19.
Mrs Grace Taiwo, the Director, Communication, Xploit consulting Ltd, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview in Abuja.
Taiwo said that the two organisations collaborated to ensure that the items were given to the schools accordingly.
“We selected the 20 schools from Birnin Kebbi and Arugungu Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Kebbi State and Sokoto North and Sokoto South LGAs in Sokoto State.’’
She said that 20 facilities were given to schools in Sokoto, while the other 20 were offered to the schools in Birnin Kebbi states.
She said that the effort was to reduce the spread of COVID-19 pandemic and other diseases in the two states.
According to her, Xploit Consulting and the Bank want to make sure that the spread of COVID-19 and other diseases reduce as well as ensuring a healthy living among the students.
“There has been a continuous call from the Federal Government through the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on measures to reduce the spread of complex diseases.
“The easiest way to curtail the spread of such diseases is by washing of hands with soaps and so Xploits Consulting Ltd with support from Access Bank Plc is happy to present the facilities to the selected schools.
“We are not only happy in providing the items but we are committed in supporting the government to fight diseases in the country.
“The devices will help to combat COVID-19 and other related diseases and it will also engender good hygiene.
“Our organisation and Access Bank have been distributing hand washing facilities in various schools since the outbreak of the disease, both in the FCT schools and outside the FCT,” she said.
Taiwo said that the organisations would ensure that they extended their hands of fellowship to other states as well as ensuring that Nigerians enjoy healthy living.
She said the organisations had trained many less privileged, especially women and youths in the FCT, Nasarawa, Kogi, Benue, Niger states, among others in various skill acquisition programmes.
She said the organisations were committed to ensure poverty and infectious diseases reduced in the country.
The director urged the school authorities to ensure the facilities provided were maintained and put into use by complying with best hygiene practice.
“The gesture will go a long way in combating the spread of infectious diseases in the states,” she added. (NAN)
