FIRS Executive Chairman gets excellence in public service award

Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Muhammad Nami has been given an award for Excellence in Public Service by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The award was given at the maiden edition of the Nigeria Excellence Award in Public Service, recently.
Mr. Nami, alongside 43 others including former President Goodluck Jonathan, were conferred the award.
This is according to a release by the Special Assistant to the FIRS Chairman, Mr. Johannes Oluwatobi Wojuola.
The Nigeria Excellence Award in Public Service (NEAPS) is “an award that recognises and rewards innovation, purposeful leadership and other exceptional deserving individuals that have contributed immensely to the growth and development of the public service and the country at large”, according to Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to Government of the Federation.
NEAPS was organized by The Best Strategic Media (TBS), a private company, in partnership with the Office of the Secretary to Government of the Federation.
Mr. Johannes Wojuola’s statement further noted that the award to Mr. Nami came as a recognition of his excellent “Fiscal Reforms” institutionally, in the area of modernisation, and also technologically.
His diligent strategies and efforts to grow Nigeria’s revenue were recognized by the President. Mr. Nami’s repositioning of the FIRS for better efficiency saw to the collection of an unprecedented NGN6.4 trillion in revenue in 2021.
In his thank-you message, the FIRS Chairman urged citizens to continue to trust the government to deliver good governance, even as they [the citizens] continue to fulfill their tax obligations, and build the nation of their dreams by so doing.
