On Thursday, at a ceremony to give free fertilizer to 52,800 small farmers across Kano State’s 44 local government areas, important comments were made.
Speaking at the Government House with the newly appointed Emirs of Gaya and Karaye, Emir Sanusi talked about the tough times many Nigerians are facing. “People are struggling. Some have to buy half a pepper because food prices are so high. This is really hard. But with efforts like this, people can get some help,” he said.
This project aims to reduce economic hardship and boost food security. Each farmer, including women and people with disabilities, will get 25kg of fertilizer.
The Emir praised the Kano State Government for this initiative but called for more action to address ongoing economic problems.
Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, said, “We are determined to support our farmers and make sure food is available and affordable for everyone.”
The Emirs of Gaya and Karaye also supported the program. Emir of Gaya, Ali Ibrahim, said, “This fertilizer distribution will greatly help food security in our state.” The Emir of Karaye, Mahammad Mahraz, agreed and hoped it would benefit the farmers.
Representatives from the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) were also present and thankful for the government’s help. AFAN official Ibrahim Inuwa said, “This initiative will help lower food prices and support our farmers.”
