Israeli Forces Intensify Operations in Gaza’s Shujayea Neighborhood

The situation in Gaza has escalated as Israeli forces intensify their operations in the Shujayea neighborhood east of Gaza City

The Israeli military reports heavy fighting both above and below ground, claiming to have eliminated a large number of militants and discovered a weapons storage facility in a school compound. The air force has targeted various “terror targets” and armed groups, including one en route to attack troops.

In response, the Israeli military issued an evacuation order for residents in Shujayea and adjacent areas to move south along Salah al-Din Street. This offensive has led to significant displacement, with at least 60,000 residents forced to leave their homes according to UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric.

In central Gaza, four members of the al-Ghazi family, including a child, were killed while trying to fill water containers at a distribution point. The United Nations reports that the new offensive has caused further displacement and casualties, with at least 5,000 people displaced from al-Mawasi, a designated “safe zone.”

The Israeli military continues operations in Rafah in southern Gaza, claiming to have eliminated numerous militants and targeted anti-tank missile posts. Two projectiles from Gaza were intercepted or fell into open areas in Israel’s Sderot.

The Gaza Ministry of Health reports a significant increase in casualties, with 37,834 people killed and 86,858 wounded since October 7. In the last 24 hours alone, 40 Palestinians were killed, and 224 were injured.

The humanitarian situation remains dire, with continuous violence causing displacement, injuries, and fatalities among civilians.
