Lagos advises homeowners to regularise papers

Lagos State government has stressed the need for homeowners in the state to regularize their land titles and secure their properties through formal application for land titles for the security of their properties.

To promote drive home the message, Lagos State Lands Bureau, led by Permanent Secretary, Land Bureau, Mr. Kamar Olowoshago and Director, Land Regularization Directorate, Olayinka Wasiu, conducted a community awareness program at Akora Villa, Adeniyi Jones area of the state.

The Permanent Secretary said the initiative was aimed at educating residents on the importance of obtaining legal titles for their properties and the processes involved in land regularization.

During the engagement, Olowoshago and members of his team highlighted the benefits of formalizing land ownership, including protection against disputes, enhanced property value, and access to government development programs.

Wasiu said the state government is committed to ensuring that residents enjoy the full legal rights of land ownership. “This awareness initiative is designed to empower communities with the knowledge and tools necessary to secure their properties legally. Land regularization is a critical step toward achieving this goal,” he said.

He said the Lands Bureau will extend similar awareness programs to other communities across the state to ensure inclusive access to land regularization opportunities.

Participants at the interactive session sought clarification on land regularization processes, including documentation requirements and application procedures. Officials also provided information on how landowners can avoid fraudulent practices while formalizing their property titles.

Residents of Akora Villa expressed gratitude for the initiative, saying it provided the much-needed guidance on navigating the complexities of land ownership in the state.
