Lagosians and the Awori Descendants of Olowogbowo community have lauded the Lagos state governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu over the appointment of Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello as the Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU).
Speaking at a press briefing organised by the Awori Descendants, the Akogun of Oto-Awori Kingdom, Chief Kehinde Dawodu noted that the appointment of Prof. Ibiyemi has further deepened the belief of Lagosians especially Awori descendants in the uprightness of the governor and his ability to be firm and uncompromised.
“We want to commend the governor for yielding to the wish of the people and particularly for adhering to the core values of academic excellence, accountability, humility, integrity, transparency and patience in appointing the Vice Chancellor”
“Having been appointed the 9th substantive Vice Chancellor of LASU, we assert that our daughter, Ibiyemi, an Awori by descendant will in no distant further transform LASU to a greater height that would rank the university as the best in Africa”, he said.
He called on the state governor to avail the university the best support and assistance to enable the new VC discharge her duties adding that the Awori descendants and Lagosians in general will do all that is required to uplift the institution’s rapid development in all ramification.
