The loss of core social values and family bonding have been identified as the cause of the upheavals and security challenges happening in the society.
The Vice Chairman Agbado/ Oke -ODO LCDA, Hon. Aminat Ajoke stated this at the 2022 Ramadan Lecture and joint Iftar event held recently, as she added that the leadership challenges being suffered today is largely due to misplace priority and urge to get rich at all cost syndromes.
She said looking into the challenges confronting Muslims across the globe, be it terrorism, kidnapping, assaults, stereotype and bigotry, these situations are because of loss of core social and family values and the lack of proper parenting.
She called for unity in the Islamic world as she stated that it is sad ‘’that our Brotherhood as Muslims is divided, our government is divided, our lands are partitioned and separated by artificial borders, the Muslim Ummah is also divided again and again’’.
‘’From being one Ummah, we have allowed ourselves to be divided into numerous sects, Mazhabs and tarikats, with each one concerned with its claim to be the true Islamic religion and with our oneness as the Ummah threatened, we are failing to notice that our detractors do not care whether we are Muslims or not before dealing with us’’.
She challenged Muslims to seek peace and love among themselves, especially during the holy month of Ramadan and be their brother’s keeper.
‘’Let us embrace one another for the sake of humanity. good government is at the center of life and government should add more value to lives by encouraging social inclusion which will help our community to change its way and begin to reignite our core social and family values’’.
She enjoined all to work together to achieve unity among Muslims and pray to Allah to bless their efforts.
