Board member, Nigeria Karate Federation, and former Deputy Governor, Imo state, Prince Eze Madumere has disclosed that he decided to join the sport to help promote it, especially in the South East that he is representing on the board.
Prince Madumere emerged as the South-east Zonal Representative of Nigeria Karate Federation in the election held recently and has the inauguration of the 23 Sports Federations holds today in Abuja the frontline administrator told our correspondent that a lot of positive turnarounds will take place in the zone.
He said his immediate task is to reawaken the consciousness of sportsmen and women to Karate and that he desires to start his campaign to return the sport to the spotlight from the grassroots.
“Joining Karate Federation is where we can demonstrate what we can do nationally. My aim is to assist in promoting Karate especially in the South East that I am representing,” Prince Madumere stated in an interview.
“We will also like to rekindle the consciousness of our people especially the young ones. We will return to the grassroots. We are thinking about raising talents that will represent us at the Olympics and other international competitions. My emphasis as a zonal representative in the board is to catch them young.”
The Imo state born politician thumbed up the election of Nigeria Karate Federation that produced ex-Deputy Governor, Nasarawa State, Silas Agara as President and he expressed his desire to work assiduously towards the success of the board especially within his catchment area in the South East.
He added that he decided to join the moving train of Agara to ensure that Karate becomes more popular in Nigeria and that the next few years will bring about lots of developmental strides in the sport across all the six zones.
“It was a unanimous decision to return him as our President. He did a good job at the helms the last tenure and we know he will surpass that this current one. We will do our best to support him as well by ensuring that Karate becomes the talk of the town in our various zones.”
