New phone maker, HONOR, enters Nigeria on naira stability

A new original equipment manufacturer (OEM), HONOR, is set to make its debut into the country riding on the stability of the naira which has driven a massive recovery in phone shipments into the country.

According to the third quarter (Q3) report of last year prepared by technology market analyst Omdia, the country achieved a 29 per cent surge in mobile phone shipments signifying a major turnaround for the country after a challenging period of currency volatility in the previous year.

HONOR will join and compete with incumbents including TECNO, Samsung, Infinx, itel, OPPO, Realme and others as technology continues to shape how people live, work, and connect.

The smartphone manufacturer, in a statement, said it remained focused on innovation and product quality as the core of its strategy in markets across the world, including Nigeria. The brand’s sustained investment in imaging, battery performance, connectivity and smart features underpins devices designed for everyday use and long-term value.

The technology brand, as a leading AI device ecosystem company, said it is committed to innovating human-to-device interactions and empowering users around the world with intelligent products and experiences.

It acknowledged that within Nigeria’s highly competitive smartphone landscape, consumer preference continues to lean towards devices that deliver strong functionality and reliable everyday performance. Industry watchers note that brands that continue to invest in innovation and product quality are gradually expanding their relevance within the market.

In continuation of its engagement with the Nigerian technology ecosystem, February 10, 2026, HONOR will host an exclusive technology experience at the Lagos Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, where guests will be offered a first look at the newest member of its X series, the HONOR X9d. The showcase is intended to highlight the brand’s practical advances in design and performance rather than headline specifications reinforcing its commitment to delivering technology solutions tailored to modern user needs.

The gathering is expected to bring together industry stakeholders, partners, media and technology enthusiasts for a first look at the brand’s latest innovation direction.

Through consistent investment in research, product development, and market engagement, HONOR continues to strengthen its positioning as a brand committed to innovation, quality, and long-term growth within Nigeria’s dynamic smartphone landscape.

With a product portfolio spanning smartphones, laptops, tablets, wearables, and connected devices, HONOR combines cutting-edge design with advanced AI capabilities to meet the needs of modern consumers and partners alike.
