The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the resumption of visa issuance by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for Nigerian passport holders, effective July 15, 2024. This development follows successful negotiations between the two countries, as disclosed by the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Monday.
“Following successful talks and extensive, mutually beneficial negotiations between the Government of the United Arab Emirates and the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, an agreement was reached allowing for the resumption of travel to the UAE for Nigerian passport holders,” Idris said.
The agreement includes updated visa controls and conditions, and Nigerians seeking more information are advised to visit the UAE’s official website.
This announcement comes over two years after the UAE suspended visa issuance to Nigerians amid diplomatic tensions. The resumption of visas follows the recent restoration of Emirates Airlines’ flights to Nigeria, scheduled to begin on October 1, 2024.
