In a post on his X handle on Saturday, Peter Obi criticized the Nigerian government for implementing four national budgets simultaneously, calling it a blatant disregard for fiscal responsibility, transparency, and accountability.
The former Anambra State Governor stated that this approach would result in frivolous items in the budgets competing with essential projects for limited resources, further exacerbating the suffering of Nigerians. He emphasized that this action indicates a lack of competence among leaders in managing the nation’s finances.
Obi demanded an immediate reversal to a more responsible and transparent budgeting process, urging leaders to prioritize public needs over selfish interests and manage public resources frugally and responsibly. He called on the National Assembly and the executive to avoid promoting such reckless behavior, stressing that responsible handling of public resources is essential for building a great nation.
