Real Madrid is closely following the happenings at Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen for they are very interested in manager Xabi Alonso to take over at the Santiago Bernabeu in the future.
Indeed, the former Los Blancos midfielder is being lined up as the replacement for Carlo Ancelotti once the Italian steps away in a year or two.
As per journalist Rodra P, Real Madrid is closely following the progress of key Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz.
The Merengues reportedly ‘love’ the 20-year-old wunderkind and see him as a ‘generational talent’ who is bound to grow into a world-class player shortly.
Real Madrid’s transfer chief, Juni Calafat, and the rest of the recruitment department have been tracking Wirtz for years now and are keeping close tabs on him, with his name put in the ‘signing’ pile.
However, the report adds that Real Madrid is also aware that they currently do not have a space for Wirtz in their squad.
The Merengues see the 20-year-old German international as a hybrid between a forward and an attacking midfielder and are of the feeling that his position is taken at the club by Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo Goes.
Furthermore, Bayer Leverkusen does not want to lose Wirtz this summer and is confident he will stay at the club at least for another year.
So, any move for the German sensation this summer can be categorically ruled out, although Real Madrid will likely continue monitoring him with the view of uniting him and Alonso at the Bernabeu in the future.
