Youths under the aegis of the Rescue Nigeria Forum on Tuesday canvassed support for the presidential aspiration of Prince Adewole Adebayo saying it is time to close the generation gap and give opportunity to the younger generation to offer leadership to the country.
They said myriad of challenges including the poor handling of the economy, insecurity and agitation by the younger generation for better inclusion in managing the affairs of the country could only be managed by persons who understand the issues.
Speaking in Lagos during the inauguration of the Rescue Nigeria Youth Solomon Dalung Foundation for South Western States namely : Lagos, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, Oyo and Ogun States they said Prince Adewole Adebayo given his capacity , pedigree and passion for the younger generation should be given the opportunity to offer leadership.
They said his various youth intervention programmes , such as empowerment initiatives for those playing in the agricultural and allied sectors, is sufficient evidence that he could take Nigeria out of the woods.
The youths said his well rounded education and Diaspora exposure as well as legal background puts him in good stead to rescue Nigeria from the older generation and cabal that have held the country hostage for many decades.
They said they were encouraging him to throw his hat in the political ring because younger Nigerians in their millions are ready to mobilize and calvanise support for him as he rolls out his blueprint to alter the narratives in youth’s contribution to national development.
While urging youths to take their destiny in their hands by coming out to support one of their own, the South West Zonal Chairman, Elemide Ayodeji Oluwaseun Rescue Nigerian Youth Solomon Dalung Foundation said the time is ripe for the younger generation to emasculate themselves from the imprisonment of the cabal holding the country hostage.
He said : ” We are not under the imprisonment of any cabal. The way we rally round this candidate would determine the future by the choices we are going to make.
” We must stand on the mandate to determine the future. I am confident he will not let us down . Please, let us use our voter card to determine the future.
” This is the reason, we are calling on Prince Adewole Adebayo to contest for the office of the president, because we need change, Nigerians are tired of poverty, youth unem-ployment . Nigerian youths are getting tired of selfish politicians , failed promises by people who continue to perpetuate themselves in power , who cannot tackle our economic woes or the spike in insecurity ravaging the land.”
Also speaking, National President, Comrade Navy Stephen said the youth are waiting for Adebayo to flag off his campaign to enable them use the increasing youth number to express their support for his intention.
He said there was no going back in supporting a younger aspirant for the office of the President, as the welfare of the younger generation has been bungled by persons in political offices, as exhibited in the last ENDSARS protest.
Also speaking, Women leader of the group, Apostle Temitope Afolabi Adebisi said Adebayo deserves a shot at the presidency because of his disposition towards issues affecting women, development and gender balance.
She said different women groups would galvanize support for him to offer purposeful leadership and take Nigeria out of its current political, economic and social challenges.
