By Ayomide Otitoju

Ecobank Nigeria, a subsidiary of the Ecobank Group, is set to host a virtual SME Conference focusing on solar energy as an alternative power source for businesses in Nigeria. This conference, part of the Bank’s MySME Growth Series, is scheduled for Tuesday, July 23, at 10 am and will be facilitated by Abraham Mohammed, Co-founder and CEO of Rana Energy.

Announcing the event in Lagos, Omoboye Odu, Head of SME at Ecobank Nigeria, emphasized the bank’s dedication to supporting its customers. She highlighted the importance of power in the growth and development of small businesses, underscoring the relevance of the topic and the expertise of the guest speaker.

The conference aims to address the energy challenges faced by small businesses, explore the benefits of solar energy, and provide guidance on transitioning to this alternative power source. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage with the speaker and ask relevant questions.

“This is part of our commitment to empower SMEs through knowledge sharing, skills development, access to new markets, and networking opportunities. We encourage Nigerians, especially those who are not yet our customers, to join and take advantage of the opportunities and top-notch services we offer,” Odu stated.

The MySME Growth Series, which began in February, is designed to empower SMEs across Nigeria. As part of Ecobank’s commitment to train over 1 million SME operators in various sectors in 2024, the series offers resources on starting a business, registration processes, industry insights, and essential business considerations. Topics covered include accounting, credit, sales and marketing, taxation, and inventory management.

Additionally, Ecobank provides articles on increasing sales, advertising ideas, business management practices, case studies, and leveraging technology. The bank also plans to launch an SME Mentorship program to collaborate with successful entrepreneurs, reflecting Ecobank’s dedication to fostering growth and success within the SME community.
