A risk bearing company, SanlamAllianz Nigeria, has said contrary to the belief that insurance all about mitigating what could go wrong about life, the industry is actually an enabler.
Its Group Head, Strategy, Marketing and Customer Relations, Chris Ekwonwa, who spoke in Lagos during the launch of Proud Moments 2.0 campaign, said it was designed to reinforce the role of insurance beyond responding to unexpected events.
He said insurance should also give people the confidence and financial security to enjoy what they had worked hard to achieve while preparing for the next stage of their lives.
“At SanlamAllianz Nigeria, we strongly believe that insurance should not be viewed merely as a response to what could go wrong, but as an empowering enabler that recognises, celebrates and provides people with the confidence, financial security and peace to enjoy what they have worked hard to achieve,” Ekwonwa said.
He added that the campaign reflected the company’s belief that every achievement, regardless of its size, deserved to be celebrated and protected.
Also speaking, Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager at SanlamAllianz Nigeria, Bankole Banjo, said the company was looking for authentic Nigerian stories that had emotional appeal and ended on a positive note.
He said the individual whose story emerged as the most resonant would receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Dakar to watch the 2026 Youth Olympics, courtesy of SanlamAllianz Nigeria.
“We want authentic Nigerian stories, published on socials, and with a life-changing outcome; we will select the most resonant and the main character of that story will enjoy an all-expense-paid trip to watch the 2026 Youth Olympics in Dakar,” Banjo said.
He said details of the nomination process had been published across the company’s social media platforms.
The launch signifies the second edition of its Proud Moments campaign, an initiative aimed at celebrating personal achievements and the people behind them.
The campaign, tagged: “You’ve Earned It. Celebrate It,” seeks to shift the conversation around insurance from one centred largely on risks and uncertainties to a more positive narrative that recognises the achievements people work hard to attain and the need to protect them.
The campaign is being implemented by SanlamAllianz Life Insurance Nigeria and its subsidiary, SanlamAllianz General Insurance Nigeria.
According to the company, Proud Moments 2.0 will celebrate milestones ranging from starting a business, buying a first car or home and achieving educational goals, to building a family and overcoming personal challenges.
It will also recognise the support systems behind many of these achievements, including parents, grandparents, teachers, neighbours, mentors, friends and other loved ones.
The campaign will run for more than eight weeks across digital platforms, with activities including a social media call for nominations, a national radio campaign and product advertising on selected digital platforms.
The launch of Proud Moments 2.0 comes after SanlamAllianz Life Insurance Nigeria and SanlamAllianz General Insurance Nigeria were listed among the insurers that successfully met the recapitalisation requirements announced by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).
The company said the campaign further underscores its commitment to insurance awareness, customer engagement and appreciation, while promoting the importance of protecting the financial gains and milestones achieved by individuals and businesses.
